Adaptation of "Sabina Freire" by Manuel Teixeira Gomes

“D. Maria, the owner of the largest fortune in the Algarve, conservative and dogmatic, sees her only son marry a foreign woman, the free-spirited and progressive Sabina. Friction between the two is inevitable and may have serious consequences. Coming from the great metropolitan centers, Sabina finds strange certain habits and ways of being, of seeing the world, especially those of her mother-in-law and her circle of followers. The confrontation is imminent, the old against the new, once again, a latent explosion.

Sabina is a satirical comedy, full of situations rich in humor and social criticism. A 21st-century adaptation of the only theatrical work by the algarvian writer and former President of the Republic, Manuel Teixeira Gomes, it presents, with wit, irony and no false modesty, portrait of several deeply portuguese traits, habits and customs.”
